Aberdeen: How they rated

- BY JOEL SKED

JOE LEWIS

8

The Englishman produced an excellent save to deny Jozo Simunovic before denying James Forrest a second late in the first half. Little chance with goals he did concede.

DOM BALL

3

Left his side in the lurch when sent off for a late, horrible challenge on Ryan Christie in the first half and Abderdeen’s afternoon unravelled from then on.

ANDREW CONSIDINE

6

A difficult afternoon but stood up well against Odsonne Edouard as the Dons battled to keep the score down having seen their gameplan go badly awry.

SCOTT MCKENNA

6

One of the few Aberdeen players who gets pass marks. Backs against the wall job for the majority of the game but Mckenna retained his focus until the end.

MAX LOWE

5

Started well against James Forrest but gave the winger space to turn and open the scoring and was bettered for the rest of the encounter.

LEWIS FERGUSON

4

One of Aberdeen’s better performers until a head’s gone moment where he ludicrously lunged in at Tom Rogic and left his side with just nine men on the field.

DEAN CAMPBELL

5

A tough ask to step into the team and replace Graeme Shinnie. Diligently went about his man-marking responsibility but a gruelling afternoon nonetheless.

STEVIE MAY

6

The front man’s performance was characterised by his usual selfless running. Should probably have stayed on when Derek Mcinnes altered the team.

GREG STEWART

5

A performance which pretty much summed up his Aberdeen career. Started wide and offered little. Moved central and offered even less.

CONNOR MCLELLAN

6

Tried to provide the team with strong running down the flanks as the toiling Dons battled to stem the tide. Defended well against Kieran Tierney.

SAM COSGROVE

5

Was tasked with a vital role in holding the ball up to allow Aberdeen to push forward, but didn’t do what was required. Once down to ten men, he offered even less.

SUBSTITUTIONS

5 Mikey Devlin (for May, 43): Got in the wrong position before clumsily bringing down Jonny Hayes.

6 Stephen Gleeson (for Stewart, 70): The game was long gone for Aberdeen by the time he got on and he barely saw the ball.

6 James Wilson (for Cosgrove, 85): Another who had no opportunity to make any sort of impact.
