Teen arrested after police van collision at riot

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with a riot in Edinburgh after he collided with a police van.

The teenager, who police say did not need medical treatment, was arrested for an alleged breach of the peace and an outstanding warrant.

Residents reported about 30 youths – some thought to be armed with weapons – in pitched battles on Moredunvale Road in Moredun around 6:30pm on Monday.

Several police vans and more than a dozen officers accompanied by at least one dog unit were used.
