Missing Scots pensioner link to Isle of Man body

A body has been found on the Isle of Man as police investigate links to a missing pensioner from Scotland’s south.

DNA tests are being carried out on a man’s body found washed up on a beach on the north of the island last week.

The body was still to be identified last night, but officers have told the family of Gavin Tait, 74, about the discovery.

Mr Tait was last seen in a shop near his Wigtown home in Dumfries and Galloway more than four weeks ago.

He was reported missing by a neighbour on 6 April.
