The season end looms and for Saints players not yet offered contracts, or whose aspirations pay-wise cannot be met by the club, there are obvious distractions. Getting a contract for next season cannot be anything but a major worry.

The manager’s challenge will be replacing those who leave. Tommy Wright has been very good at identifying players who may be available with contracts expiring. His signings last summer have all benefited from being given a chance to prove themselves.

A creative holding midfielder and a striker would be top of most supporters lists. Anybody know of any Jody Morris or Roddy Grant types out of contract?
