Celtic Society’s problem

- Kevin Graham

The only thing Scottish football does to a worldclass standard is “whatabootry”. Our statement league table is envied all over the world. Problem is that it solves nothing and shines the light of parochial bigotry and racism on the country, which then blames football.

I have seen my own support involved in some unsavoury things and I have been on the receiving end both from opposition fans and when supporting Scotland by other Scotland fans. In all cases it has been done to offend and provoke a reaction. The meaning of the words is lost in tribal spit in the heat of the moment and egged on by the comfort blanket of the collective.

There needs to be education on all sides and not only criminality as an outcome. But that is a concern for society and not just football.
