Body exhumed in bid to clear name

-

A father’s body has been exhumed in a bid by his family to clear his son of historical rapes.

Eric Mckenna, 60, was jailed for 23 years in March 2018 for two separate rapes of women in Newcastle and Gateshead in the 1980s. He was caught after he was cautioned for urinating on a plant pot.

Relatives won the Church of England’s permission to exhume the body of his father Thomas Edward Mckenna, who died in 1993, in Elswick, Newcastle.
