Eintracht Frankfurt hit back in style

-

Chelsea will be up against Eintracht Frankfurt in the semi-finals of the Europa League after the German side staged a superb comeback from 4-2 down in the first leg to win 2-0 at home and seal an away goals victory against Benfica.

Valencia will face Arsenal in the last four after beating fellow Spanish side Villarreal 2-0 to complete a comprehensive 5-1 aggregate win.

Eintracht Frankfurt, who were at one point 4-1 down in the tie, saw Filip Kostic and Sebastian Rode net either side of half-time to take charge of the tie, but they looked to have ridden their luck with Kostic’s opener which was shown to be scored from an offside position as he turned in a Mijat Gacinovic shot that had come off the post.

Holding a comfortable 3-1 lead from the first leg, Valencia went further ahead through Toni Lato, then killed off any hope of a Villareal comeback when Dani Parejo, who had a penalty saved in the first leg, saw his deflected free kick find the net early in the second half to send his side on their way to the semi-finals – where they will face their former boss Unai Emery.
