Re-routed Loyalist parade cancelled

A Loyalist parade re-routed following concerns it would pass the spot where a priest was assaulted last year has now been cancelled.

The Apprentice Boys of Derry were due to pass St Alphonsus’ Church in Glasgow on Easter Sunday. Canon Tom White was spat on outside the church in London Road during the annual Orange Order Boyne march last July.

Glasgow City Council said the application for the Apprentice Boys Easter march had now been withdrawn. It followed the decision to divert the route away from the church.
