What’s the last piece of clothing you bought?

A grey linen short-sleeved shirt from Rochester in Knightsbridge. I have a long body and short legs. The shirt is nice and long.

What are you addicted to buying?

I absolutely love scarves, though I lose them all the time. I had a really nice silk blue and white Alexander Mcqueen one that took a walk. If you watch me on Live At The Apollo ,I’m wearing a grey print scarf I bought at Shibuya Crossing in Tokyo. Haven’t lost that one yet.

Best ever bargain?

My mate Wendy gave me a beautiful biker jacket, because it was too big for her. It’s falling to bits but I completely adore it.

Who has great style?

Legendary Scottish artist John Byrne. He never looks anything less than absolutely fantastic. It’s like an elegant punk look.

Name your favourite high street shop.

The Classic Cap Company of Westcliff-on-sea in Essex. It’s run by a lovely man called Terry and his son. He’s an absolute expert in gentlemen’s hats. Looks at you, can tell you about the shape of your head. Knows what will look good on you. I’ve bought loads of hats I don’t really need.

Any fashion disasters you’d care to tell us about?

Every time I gain weight. Like many of your readers, I’m sure, my weight tends to yo-yo. When I start to put it on and can’t get into stuff, that for me, is a fashion disaster.

What’s your favourite item in your wardrobe?

I have a copy of an American army jacket. It’s beaten up, but I love it to bits. Huge pockets. I wear badges all the time and there’s plenty of room for them on the breast pocket flaps. n
