An attempted murder investigation has been launched after a man was chased by four men and stabbed in an attack in Glasgow.

The 28-year-old man had been waiting for a lift on Egilsay Street, Milton, north Glasgow, at around 12.45am on Sunday when the men got out of a white car armed with weapons. The man was chased through gardens in the area before being stabbed.

A number of residents came to the aid of the victim, who was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he is described as being in a serious but stable condition.

Police have appealed for information following the incident, with the men described as being white, wearing dark clothing and are said to be in their late 20s to early 40s.

Detective Sergeant Derrick Lunan said: “We have yet to establish a motive.”
