Van der Poel copies dad after 29 years

CYCLING Mathieu van der Poel of the Netherlands won the Amstel Gold Race, emulating his father Adri who won the event in 1990.

Kasia Niewiadoma won the women’s race, which included British rider Lizzie Deignan, competing for the first time since the birth of her first child seven months ago. Deignan led with 40km left but finished among the chasing pack.
