Three-legged dog wows crowd at Florida surf competition

-

Returning dog surfing champion Surf Pig, a three-legged female Jack Russell terrier, took to the waves to perform at Cocoa Beach, Florida, claiming top prize in the Dog Surfing event held as part of the 55th annual Easter Surf Festival on Sanday.

The dog surfing event, presented by the brevard humane Society, attracted a huge crowd and dozens and dozens of dogs to the beach.

There were also huge crowds for a memorial paddle-out for Gary Propper, a Cocoa Beach surfing icon of the 1960s who passed away earlier this year at 72. Contest director Craig Harriman said: “This is a tribute. This is what he [would have] wanted. He didn’t want a funeral, he wanted to celebrate with his surfers.”
