Tory’s warning

-

A Scots Tory MSP has called for an overhaul of the UK constitutional set-up which would see the House of Lords abolished and a quasifederal state established. Murdo Fraser warned that without change, support for separatism will be “inflamed” in different parts of the UK, including Scotland.

The Scots Tories have been studying dreadful opinion poll samples, which show that in the wake of Brexit the party faces a stark future.

Samuel Coldstream We used to have “a quasifederal” system in Scotland. It was called county councils... empowered to properly look after their respective regions. Problem now is centralisation of these powers and responsibilities, but without accountability ! There is nothing new under the sun. Only the tendency of successive generations to forget the lessons of the past.

Derek Farmer Should be more worried about Farage’s Brexit Party than SNP.

Steven Fraser Why should it be “inflamed”? If the UK Government were the slightest bit inclusionary and not set on nothing but insulting/ignoring Scotland, independence would have been dead long ago.

Mukluk It still leaves the SNP with that one trifling problem they can’t seem to shake off. They can only claim an independent Scotland would be better, they’ve never quite managed to qualify the statement by producing any facts that suggest that may be the case.
