Greens leader accused of ‘misogyny’ after sharing insulting blog on MSP

The leader of the Scottish Greens has been accused of sharing a “vile” and misogynist­ic” online blog that referred to a female SNP politician as a “w **** r”.

The post was accompanie­d by a photo of Ms Mcalpine on which a badge with the words “Weekly W **** r” had been Photoshopp­ed.

Mr Harvie did not answer whether he thought “w **** r” was an abusive word, but said: “It’s disappoint­ing that Joan Mcalpine and a few others in the SNP have promoted anti-trans rhetoric in recent months.” The blog’s author, Juan Mac, said: “Trans rights are, and will always be, human rights so we will unapologet­ically hold to account those who oppose them.”
