First defeat for Scots duo

Gina Aitken and Scott Andrews suffered their first defeat at the World Mixed Doubles Championship yesterday.

Estonia’s Marie Turmann and Harri Lill denied the Scots a sixth straight win in Group D.

Despite nicking a single at the opening end, Aitken and Andrews conceded three stones at the third and found themselves 6-1 down. A three gave them fresh hope but they failed to get any closer and eventually went down 8-6.

The Scots face an unbeaten Norway team in their final group match today although, with five wins already, they have probably done enough to reach the knockout stages.
