Montrose reach play-offs in spite of derby defeat

1-0, via John Baird’s winner, but the Gable Endies are in the play-offs as East Fife drew 1-1 at Stenhousem­uir.

Montrose manager Stewart Petrie said: “To go from League 2 to the Championsh­ip within one season is a great effort.”

East Fife’s Aaron Dunsmore netted on 32 minutes but Ruaridh Donaldson thumped in a quick equaliser. The Fifers’ promotion dreams ended when Scott Agnew had a penalty saved and Jonathan Court was dismissed.

The Warriors are off bottom spot with Brechin City now tenth after losing 3-2 at Raith.

Ross Kavanagh twice fired the visitors ahead but Kevin Nisbet twice equalised and Liam Buchanan shot the winner.

Champions Arbroath lost 3-0 at Airdrie where Leighton Mcintosh scored twice, visiting defender Thomas O’brien was red-carded and Sean Mcintosh added a third.

Dumbarton saw off Stranraer 2-1.Calumgalla­gherand Ross Forbes scored for Sons, Innes Cameron replying.
