#KEZIADUGDALE

Former Scottish Labour leader Kezia Dugdale is to step down as an MSP. Ms Dugdale will quit Holyrood over the summer for a job in academia, after a bruising 18-month period in which she found herself clashing with the party’s leadership.

@Nicolasturgeon posted: “I wish @kezdugdale the very best for the future. As political opponents, she and I have had our fair share of clashes over the years, but I think she is a big loss to @ scottishlabour and to @Scotparl. I hope she enjoys her new challenge.”

@Kirstystricklan tweeted: “I don’t know about you, but I’m really looking forward to Kezia Dugdale’s tell-all interview.”

@Georgie_rharris added: “So sad to see that @kezdugdale will be leaving politics – as an LGBT+ woman in politics Kez has really inspired me. There aren’t many politicians who have dealt with harder times both in & out of the party than her – thanks Kez.”

@Thistlejohn wrote: “Kezia Dugdale only the most prominent young MSP to cut short a promising career in the Scottish Parliament. Definitely not the first.”

#STEVIECHALMERS

As Scottish football continues to mourn the loss of Billy Mcneil, the sad news came that fellow Lisbon Lion Stevie Chalmers had died.

@Maccafrank said: “Just heard another giant of @Celticfc, Stevie Chalmers, who scored winning goal against Inter Milan 67, has passed away this morning with same illness as my old gaffer Billy Mcneill. My thoughts and prayers are for his family and friends.”

@Shinjukushug wrote: “And so, farewell Stevie Chalmers, the most unassuming of men in spite of being the scorer of his club’s greatest-ever goal. Celtic is a club awash with sorrow.”

@Angelahaggerty added: “Imagine being the person who scored the winning goal in 1967. And yet, Stevie Chalmers never grabbed any glory for himself. It was all about the team, the club, the fans. The Lisbon Lions were, and remain, a great example to all of us.”

@Cairney2 (fellow Lisbon Lion, Jim Craig) tweeted: “Too awful for words to lose another brother within a week of Billy. RIP my friend and team-mate Stevie Chalmers.”

@Lisbonceltic 67 summarised: “I’m sending my love out to all Celtic supporters, it’s been a very sad week for Celtic.”
