Ankle break ends season for Rankin

- By CRAIG P STEWART

Clyde’s veteran midfielder John Rankin suffered a broken ankle in Saturday’s 3-0 win over Queen’s Park, and the 35-year-old underwent surgery the following day.

Rankin has been a standout for the Bully Wee this season but he will be missing for their crunch game against Cowdenbeath this Saturday and the play-offs should Danny Lennon’s side fail to pip Peterhead to the League 2 title.

Rankin suffered the break before the end of the first half after an innocuous tackle by David Galt. “John has undergone a successful operation and will now begin his recovery,” said Lennon. “He is in good spirits.wefeelforhimashe ismissingthefinaleofaseason that he has made such a huge contribution to.”
