Goalkeeper Joe Lewis has committed his long-term future to Aberdeen by signing a new five-year deal.

The Dons No 1 has agreed a four-year extension which will take him through to the summer of 2024.

Lewis, 31, has made 139 appearances for the Pittodrie side, keeping 53 clean sheets, since signing in 2016.

Dons boss Derek Mcinnes told the club’s official webJOE LEWIS “I’m very confident in the next five years we can get plenty of silverware”

site: “This is a really significant signing for the club. The length of the contract illustrates what we think of Joe and that we want him to be part of this club going forward.

“It’s a real boost for us at a time when we are going to lose a number of key players this summer and it’s great to see a player of Joe’s calibre show that level of commitment to the club.”

Lewis said: “I’m very happy at the football club, my family is settled and as soon as the club approached myself and my agent to try to get something sorted we were all keen to get it done and as soon as possible.

“Football is a short career and you want to win trophies. We’ve got very close plenty of times since I’ve been here and I’m very confident in the next five years we can get plenty of silverware under our belts.”
