Major overhaul to help wildlife at nature reserve
A multi- million pound project will improve the wildlife habitats at a nature reserve in a North Lanarkshire town.
A detailed report on the project in Kilsyth was presented to North Lanarkshire Council’s environment and transportation committee this week.
Almost £ 3 million will be spent on improving the Dumbreck Marsh wetlands, which are home to wildlife such as otters and kingfishers, as well as migratory fish such as salmon and eels. Footpaths in the area will also be upgraded and made less prone to flooding.
