Unspotted Snow
It’s an unsettling story, told in a bold two- part format with songs; but anyone interested in the history of exploration and exploitation that made the British Empire should see Peter Arnott’s new touring play, which marks Alasdair Mccrone’s final production as artistic director of Mull Theatre. Based on the story of the disastrous Franklin expedition of the 1840s, Arnott’s double drama takes us first to the Arctic, and then to a London drawing room where the powerful determine who is allowed to write British history. Mccrone both acts and directs; and Beth Marshall is in splendid form as Franklin’s indomitable widow, Lady Jane.
