What will the SNP do next to raise tax revenues since Nicola Sturgeon has called a climate emergency ? It would surely be morally wrong for them to allow oil and gas companies to continue extracting fossil fuels to the detriment of the global climate while receiving the hefty tax benefit.

Wilburforc­e Renewable technology has come a long way. That is the nature of things. Scotland is a world leader in this field and our wee country is particular­ly well suited to production of renewable power.

A fine example of us leading the way is a company in East Lothian that is the only company in the world

that makes kit to store energy from solar or wind in a very novel way. You being an expert will, of course, know this.

Mike Lowery Given that fossil fuels are now being phased out and that whisky is a poisonous drug, the Scottish economy has to abandon its moral high ground and re- think how best to exploit its assets. Brains are the obvious ones but as the SNP lack these, as is shown by the mess our education is in, I think we need the strength of the Union more than ever.
