May the Fourth: Star Wars fans celebrate

H u n d r e d s o f f a n s , m a n y dressed as their favourite characters from the film, descended on Kerry and Donegal for the May the Fourth festivals.

Themed festivitie­s and events for all ages attracted tourists from all over the world to Irish locations made famous by the films.

Star Wars events were held around the world on 4 May, due to the date sounding like the film’s famous phrase “May the Force be with you”.

In Ireland, two festivals were staged over the weekend at locations close to where scenes from the most recent movies were shot–Ma lin Head in Co Donegal and in Portmagee.
