Scots name squad to face Afghanistan

A 14- strong squad has been selected for S cotland’ s two-match oneday international series against Afghanistan at The Grange, Edinburgh on Wednesday and Friday.

Ten of the squad featured in Scotland’s first ever tour to Oman in February in which Scotland won the quadrangular T20 series against Ireland, Net herlands and Oman. The Scots then went on to record a 2-1 win over the latter in a three-game 50-over series.

Head coach Shane Burger said: “We certainly go into the series with a lot of confidence and we are ready to face the challenge of a strong Afghanistan unit.

“The inclusion of Tom Sole (Northamptonshire), Brad Wheal (Hampshire), Gavin Main( Durham) and Michael Jones (Durham) add to the skillsets we require and fall into the bracket of the brand of cricket we want to play.”
