Grange edge final thriller to retain cup

Grange retained the Scottish Cup with a narrow 4-3 victor y over Grove Menzieshil­l in a thriller at Glasgow Green and in doing so completed the whitewash of domestic titles.

Menziesh ill hit the ground running when, at their third penalty corner, Cammie Golden fired the ball home off a defender.

But Dan Coultas levelled for Grange from a set-piece and the champions took a 2-1 lead into the inter val when captain Cammie Fraser shot low into the net.

The Dundonians started the second half brightly and equalised when Jamie Carnegie stroked the ball home from close range.

But a diving deflection into the roof of the net by Todd Mills put Grange 3-2 ahead before Duncan Riddell scored with a snap shot for a two-goal cushion.

Near the end Jamie Golden scored a third for Menzieshil­l but Grange held out for the silverware.

Edinburgh University completed the capital double with a comfortabl­e 3- 0 victor y over Dundee Wanderers to retain the women’ s cup, with El lie Hutches on (2) and Ella Watt the scorers.
