Steven Gerrard admits he is running out of ideas to improve Rangers’ disciplina­ry record after watching goalkeeper Allan Mcgregor get himself sent off against Hibs, writes Alan Pattullo.

The Ibrox manager sounded genuinely at a loss to explain the latest red card that briefly threatened his side’s 1-0 win over Paul Heckingbot­tom’s in-form team. Gerrard issued a threat to start fining players in order to drive the message home that red cards are hurting the club’s chances of being successful.

Mcgregor had just saved well from Florian Kamberi before he lashed out at Marc Mcnulty with his boot while making a clearance in the last minute of normal time. The Hibs striker had been standing in front of Mcgregor and was booked for his part in the late drama.
