The Warriors boss started his career at the League 2 side 20 years ago, but his affection will be pushed aside for the play-off between the clubs, starting tonight at Gala bank.

Mcmenamin said: “There are great people at Annan, people I have known a long time. However, I will be happy if they lose this game and on Saturday.

“It will be tough, but we are going into the game positively after putting our future in our own hands over the last four weeks.”

Ann an manager Peter Murphy is hoping that the competition between 14-goal Aidan Smith and Tommy Muir, as well as 13-goal Tony Wallace will benefit his side.

Murphy said :“Having three guys fighting it out to be top goalscorer can only be a good thing going into the play-offs.”

Edinburgh City entertain Clyde and their manager, James Mcdonaugh, wants their record-breaking season to continue.

Mcdonaugh said: “We have won 67 points and when you consider we only picked up 30 last season it is a remarkable turnaround. We have finished third, which is our highest ever finish. However, we do not intend to say ‘that is enough, we do not need to do anymore’. We want to win the play-offs.”

Clyde’s title challenge ran a ground on Saturday at Cowdenbeath but manager Danny Lennon expects his players to bounce. He said: “The title has gone now but we can still write our own destiny. We have a second opp or tunit y to get to where we want to be. If we area tour best, we can get put ourselves into a good position for the weekend.”
