Alloa Athletic Richly deserved

-

Although the last ten minutes was an endurance of agonising pain, Alloa managed to pick up the point required at Somerset Park to consolidate their place in the Championship. The final league table shows Alloa’s sur vival was achieved by the narrowest of margins, but there’s little doubt it was richly deserved.

Relegation rivals such as Falkirk and Partick were able to recruit substantially in Januar y. Alloa spent that period holding on to players and relied on the same 15 men all season. Consolidation in the second tier has only occurred three other times in Alloa’s history. This is a real achievement to be proud of, particularly as the only part-time team in the division. It’s been a hugely memorable season following the club.
