Youngster badly hurt after being hit by motorbike

A 12- year-old girl was seriously injured when she was hit by a motorcycle while crossing a road in South Ayrshire.

The youngster was struck on Wednesday evening on the A 759 near Bar assie, close to Troon.

The 30- year-old man driving the Honda Transalp was thrown from his bike and is in a stable condition at Crosshouse Hospital.

The girl, who was crossing the road near Laigh Hillhouse just after 7pm, is in a serious, but stable condition in hospital.

Police are appealing for witnesses.
