Free transport to school for pupils who are in need

-

School pupils in South Lanarkshire entitled to free school lunch es may soon be able to travel to school under the council’s Paid Privilege Transport Scheme without charge.

The scheme allows children who fall outwith the requirements fort ransport to school to pay a subsidy for transport where spaces are available.

Lynn Sherry, head of education support services, said: “We propose to waive the charge for children entitled [to a] free school meal. We would lose out on a small amount of revenue, but it is manageable across education.”
