Putin makes parade vow to build up military military
Russian president Vladimir Put in has declared that the country will continue to strengthen its armed forces in an address to the an nual military Victory Day parade in Red Square.
Yesterday’ s parade marked the 74 th anniversary of the defeat of Nazi Germany. It included about 13,000 service men and 130 pieces of military equipment, ranging from a T -34 tank–renowned for its effectiveness in the Second World War– to lumbering Yars ICBM launch units.
For the second time in three years, the parade did not end with an aerial display of warplanes.
Mr Putin said that “we have done and will do everything necessary to ensure the high combat capability of our armed forces”.
