Stu­dent who stabbed mother 30 times jailed

A stu­dent who stabbed his mother 30 times in a fren­zied mur­der bid has been locked up for nine years.

Kyle Mor­ri­son at­tacked Sharon Mor­ri­son as she re­turned to their flat in Jor­dan­hill last Au­gust. Mor­ri­son, 20, also choked the 51- year- old while telling her: “I love you so much.”

Mor­ri­son – a stu­dent at Ed­in­burgh’s He­riot- Watt Univer­sity – re­turned to the dock yes­ter­day hav­ing ear­lier pleaded guilty to at­tempted mur­der.

Lord Mul­hol­land t old Mor­ri­son his mother was “lucky to still be here”, and added: “Your mo­tive seems to be some sick f an­tasy on your part. You are her only child – she brought you i nto the world, and gave you ev­ery op­por­tu­nity. This was an ap­palling crime which will have long term con­se­quences for your mum.”

Mor­ri­son did not look at his mother as he was led hand­cuffed to the cells.
