Nu­clear ten­sion: Protests in Iran as min­is­ter warns Europe to hon­our deal

Ira­nian demon­stra­tors raise plac­ards and a por­trait of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ay­a­tol­lah Ali Khamenei as they chant anti- US slo­gans dur­ing a rally in the cap­i­tal Tehran. US Pres­i­dent Don­ald Trump pulled the United States out of the agree­ment in May of last year and re­in­stated uni­lat­eral eco­nomic sanc­tions. Iran’s Deputy For­eign Min­is­ter Ab­bas Araghchi warned Euro­pean sig­na­to­ries of the 2015 deal they should not un­der­es­ti­mate Iran’s will to im­ple­ment a step- by- step re­duc­tion of its com­mit­ments. Ira­nian Pres­i­dent Has­san Rouhani said sig­na­to­ries to the deal have two months to come up with a plan to shield his coun­try - al­ready labour­ing un­der eco­nomic hard­ship from the sanc­tions im­posed by Pres­i­dent Don­ald Trump.
