Rare black and white twin lambs born

- By ARTHUR VUNDLA

Rare twin lambs have stunned visitors to a family park – after they were born completely different colours.

The twin lambs – one black and one white–were born at East Links Family Park, in Dunbar, East Lothian and have caused a stir with visitors since their arrival.

It is rare for two lambs to be born out of the same mother, but be a completely different colour, according to park manager Barry Cowan.

Their mother is a black cheviot sheep but it is still not known who she mated with after the lambs came out in opposite colours when they were born on 29 April.

And customers visiting the family park have been left baffled by the lamb’s distinctive difference.

Manager Barry said the lambs have not yet been named and added: “I believe for them to be born like that is quite rare, we just don’ t know how rare it is.

“Their mother is a black cheviot but we don’t know who she’s matted with. It could be two different sheep or one with a unique breed.

“She was in with a few different sheep, it’s a mystery.

“We think it’s great that they were born like that, we’ve pointed it out to our customers and even they are wondering how it happened.

“They are very friendly, very approachable.”

He added: “They are really lively. They are in with about 30 to 40 lambs and they all jump around each other.”
