City ‘to be carbon neutral by 2037’

Councillors are to consider plans which would commit Edinburgh to becoming a carbon neutral city by 2037.

Members of Edinburgh City Council will debate the pro - posals, set out in a new report, today.

The Sustainability Approach rep or t outlines a three -step delivery plan for the capital to work towards achieving a net zero carbon target by 2030, but with a hard target of meeting this by 2037. The local authority is on course to meet a target to reduce carbon emissions by 42 per cent by 2020.
