Kampunghighlander More politicians at the cost of the taxpayer. What a ridiculous idea.

Stuart Cowan

No – it needs the presiding officer to do their job.

Bob the Bonnet

If you insist in comparing the two parliaments, then the Holyrood one is nothing more than a playground of five-year-olds fighting. And that is an insult to five-yearolds.

kmcn

Sorry Jack, but Scotland needs one LESS chamber.

Johnosee

Well, they have to find jobs for the unemployable somewhere.

Black Sheep Totally out of touch with the people who feel that there are too many politicians as it is. We are seriously overgoverned. In terms of value for money, Holyrood ranks pretty much near the bottom considering the quality of those in power.

Moultrieman At a time most agree the House of Lords is a defunct and expensive non-entity and should be scrapped, why on earth would the Scottish people want, and fund, its own equivalent? You can only see one reason for it, to add to the political footprint for those seeking a wage from politics and another trough for such people to feed from. Surely it is better and cheaper to make sure MSPS do their job right and the first time rather than employing another level of incompetence?

disqus_mujo0jlqvu What load of mince... the EU “must” follow their own rules and an independent Scotland would fail their membership criteria. Also, would the “people of Scotland” want to be a bit part extra in the EU? What would the EU demand in return for membership?

Jimjamm It’s clear Europe wants to stay friends with the Scots. They can see the rise of Farage and have given up on the English.

Handsome Albannach Farage is a lover of Europeans (literally) and Europe. It’s a political issue. Most Brexiteers want to maintain a free-trading co-operative relationship with the whole of Europe. We are happy to be friends but there is no need for marriage.

Hard border between Scotland and England?

Wee Jimmy Mchaggis

Scotland has close cultural, economic and social links with England and it is essential for Scotland’s future that they are maintained. A look at a map of Europe and Scotland’s location on the fringe of Europe will quickly confirm why that is the case.

World wide football fan

What utter drivel, the EU will make no special effort to fast track Scotland back in, not forgetting that the criteria to join, Scotland couldn’t meet, as debt will be too high amongst other stuff.

Luckie Mucklebackit The Auld Alliance only ever worked in France’s favour. They were posted missing too many times.

Paul Holyrood And the rest of the country is focused on rejecting Indymince 2.

Muppets R Us Focus on education for a start.

Ian Beale

Pity there isn’t so much focus on actually running the country at the present.

This knowledge will comfort me when I go for my knee replacement.
