- By COLIN STEWART

James Nor woods truck his 32nd goal of the season to take Tranmere to Wembley for the Sky B et League Two play- off final against Newport.

A header by Forest Green skip per Joseph Mills after only 13 minutes cancelled out Ollie Banks’ cracker from the first leg. But Nor wood’s goal after 27 minutes proved decisive, earning a 1-1 draw on the night and a 2-1 victor y on aggregate, while the hosts had Carl Winchester sent off midway through the second half.

Tranmere had star ted the better at The New Lawn and chalked up the first shot of the game when Liam Ridehalgh tried his luck from outside the area but it was easily gathered by Forest Green keeper Lewis Ward.

The hosts soon got into their stride, however, and opened the scoring when Junior Mondal floated a free -kick into the area which was headed home by Mills.

At the other end, Banks fired a low effort at Ward before the visitors levelled through a well-worked effort.

David Perkins crossed to the far side of the penalty area where Kieron Morris headed down for Nor wood, pictured, to volley into the bottom corner of the net.

Tranmere almost added to the scoreline two minutes after the restart when a de ft Morris free -kick was just missed by Sid Nelson six yards out.

George Williams, brought on by Forest Green at halftime, then forced Scott Davies into a save at his near post and Winchester fizzed a shot low past the upright as the hosts looked for their all-important second goal.

That, however, was to prove Win chester’ s final input as was shown a second yellow after 67 minutes for a foul on Norwood and, just as at Prenton Park, Forest Green were reduced to ten men.
