Time to tune out
It looks like the newlylaunched BBC Scotland TV is doomed – with viewing figures down to as few as 4,000, it has little hope of surviving as a Scottish TV channel.
This is notre allys ur pr ising as viewers’ habits are well established; we watch the main news programmes at 1pm, 6pm and 10pm, and the rest of the time watch selected digital recordings.
Whoever decided on the programming of the BBC Scotland channel must live on the dark side of the moon if they expected Scottish viewers to change their well-established viewing pattern to fit in with the new channel’s schedule.
Based on these disastrous viewing figures the BBC will have to make a decision to abandon the new channel sooner rather than later. DENNIS FORBES GRATTAN
