I was intrigued by The Scotsman article (13 May) about Ryan Davren and his spectacle frames made from ground coffee. An excellent idea.

However, I should point out that coffee grounds are indeed compostable, and provide valuable nutrients to the soil. In Edinburgh they can be placed in the food waste bin for the municipal compost.

Are coffee shops and cafes ignoring this facility? Is it available in other local authority areas?
