Late night drama as woman rescued from sea

Emergency workers have rescued a woman from the sea off the coast of Dumfries and Galloway.

The 38- year-old was spotted in the water at Sand head near St ranraer shortly after 11pm on Wednesday. Coastguard­s, the RNLI, Scottish Ambulance S er vice and Police Scotland were all involved in the rescue operation.

The woman was recovered from the water and taken to the Galloway Community Hospital in St ran ra er where police said she was recovering.

It was not clear how the woman had got into the water.
