Arabian knife: Lawrence dagger up at auction

Personal items given by TE Lawrence , better known as Lawrence of Arabia, to the teenage son of his landlady in Southampton while he hid from the press under a new identity are to be sold at auction in Glasgow next month.

Lawrence, described by Winston Churchill as “one of the greatest beings alive in our time”, is credited with uniting the Arab tribes. David Convery, senior auctioneer at Great Western Auct i ons, holds t he Arabian Janbiya dagger, expected to fetch up to £ 10,000.
