No flagging in the heat: Demonstrators demand military council returns Sudan to civilian rule
Sudanese protesters demanding transition to a civilian- led government use a national flag to shield a man from the sun as he recites the Korana during Friday prayers near the military headquarters in the capital of Khartoum. Crowds of demonstrators who staged sit- ins tore down roadblocks on a major route in the city but warned that the barricades would return if the country’s ruling military council fails to resume talks over civilian rule.
The UN has c ondemned a t t a c k s o n t he pr o t e s t e r s which left six dead this week.
The military removed President Omar al- Bashir in April.
