Making plans

Anti- racism campaigners planned to stage a demonstration against Nigel Farage when he spoke at a meeting in Edinburgh last night.

Mr Farage is being tarbrushed as a racist. Is being vocal on immigration, as is his democratic right, being racist?

John Mcfadden The SNP/ Green White Nationalists racists in Scotland are a bigger threat here than Farage.

oneworld72 So a bigoted rentamob is planning on disrupting a political rally of someone with opposing views? Take it none of these morons studied history, especially Germany in the 1930s? If they did they may see parallels with their own behaviour.

Another Voice It’s not a rally when you go inside a building with private security and police outside. A rally is a public meeting, held in the public and open to the public.

Portrait So the democratic political party threatening to win a resounding majority at the forthcoming elections is not welcome in Scotland, according to the progressive voices of Scotland’s politicians and political activists. This is exactly why the determination of the Brexit Party to restore democracy is being supported by so many!

Arch Stainton Brexit Party has my vote , we need a party in the EU that does not support the EU so it will help get Brexit done.

Wait for a wipeout?

Labour and the Tories are both set to be wiped out in European elections, a poll suggests. A Yougov survey put the Tories in fifth place, with the Liberal Democrats pushing Labour into third.

I voted Remain. I normally vote Tory. I will vote for the Brexit Party because democracy must be upheld. We will never see Brexit with Theresa May in charge. A poor result UK- wide should see May standing down.

Mike Lowery I think a lot of Scottish voters – from all parties – will be voting for the Brexit Party.

altnacealgac I would be careful in trying to interpolate the EU results as an indication of voting in a general election or Holyrood Election. Many Conservative and Labour supporters will vote for the Brexit Party as a one off- protest against the stagnation of the EU departure process. It should not be assumed these voters would again vote for the Brexit Party in a general election or Holyrood election, where the result really will impact their lives.

City Loon I would normally agree with you, Loon, but, on this occasion, I believe the anger, frustration and disillusionment is such that such voters will continue their protest at all elections, until and unless the two main parties learn to respect democracy and the right of the democratic majority to see their will prevail.

Arch Stainton It will unite the country. Both Tory and Labour lifelong voters agree democracy prevails and will vote Brexit Party. For the longterm there should be a “prenuptial” agreement by MPS to be sacked if they break election promises

Bog of Despair Looks like it’ll be a Lib Dem vote for me. The only “remain in the UK and Europe” party. Labour and Tories are a disgrace. SNP even worse as they take a vote for them as a proxy for independence. Greens are shifty folk. If Change UK were more established I’d vote for them. Until then...

van coupon II The only surprising result is that the Tories and Labour would still be left with 15 seats between them! Why on earth would anyone, whatever their views on Brexit, vote for either party, when neither has a clue what it wants – or even how to arrive at getting a clue?

No go for Jo

SNP MP Joanna Cherry seems to be “fighting everyone” and the more unhappy she is, the greater the risk to Nicola Sturgeon, said Paris Gourtsoyannis.

Sounds like politicians at their best. Doing every other thing but running the country properly. A waste of space the lot of them.

Margaret Granny Mig Mcmillan She, Joanna Cherry, has the full confidence of her leader Nicola Sturgeon, and we all know what that usually means in political circles, and what usually happens next.

Rita Yunis This story has run all week and looks like it will continue. Do we have enough popcorn though, that is the question!
