New venture launched to target £ 15bn market

A Scottish oil and gas decommissi oning s p e c i a l i s t has joined forces with Norwegian and Dutch firms to launch a new venture to target a market expected to be worth £ 15 billion in the years ahead.

Ab e r d e e n - b a s e d Deco m Energy, AF Offshore Decom and Heerema Marine Contractor­s have set up Fairfield Decom to provide a “one- stop shop” for projects to deal with oil and gas assets at the end of their working lives. The new venture, which will be headquarte­red in Aberdeen, wil l predominan­tly focus on decommissi­oning work in the North Sea. Graeme Ferg us s on, managing director of Fairfield Decom, said there was “great alignment” between the three firms.

Heerema has over 50 years of experience in the offshore oil and gas and renewable industries and AF Offshore Decom, part of Norwegian group AF Gruppen, has been involved in the removal of offshore installati­ons for the past 15 years.
