Little braced for hat- trick of heartaches

Play- offs have brought nothi ng but pai n f o r B e r wic k Rangers assistant manager Ian Little and unless the Shielfield men can overcome a four- goal deficit against Cove Rangers, he will suffer further distress.

The only English club to play in Scotland are on the brink of dropping out of senior football after losing 4- 0 in the first leg and their demotion would complete a hat- trick of play- off heartaches for Little.

The former striker said: “I played for Berwick in the playoffs against Alloa in 2006 and suffered a cruciate injury that cost me a year of my career. I was manager at Berwick in 2013 when we made the play- offs but lost to East Fife and I lost my job shortly afterwards.

“We now have this situation so you could say that the playoffs have not been great to me.”

Cove Rangers assistant manager Graeme Mathieson, pictured, will again be in charge a s manager Jo h n S h e r a n recovers from a heart attack and despite having one f oot i n SPFL League 2, his side are taking nothing for granted.

Mathieson said: “We are confident. But everyone at Cove accepts there is still work to be done. Berwick will not be thinking that the tie is over, so we have to work just as hard to get the right result.”
