Radio firm with Scots presence saved in deal

- By EMMA NEWLANDS

A two-way radio communications firm that covers south-west Scotland and north-west England has been saved after calling in the administrators.

Atlas Personal Communications (formerly Nortech Radio Telephones), whose offices encompass Dumfries and Glasgow as well as Carlisle, went into administration with the loss of more than 50 jobs.

Nigel Met calfe from Nationwide Telecom in Kendal, Cumbria – a previous employee of Nor tech –has bought the radio communications side of the business. He has kept key members of staff and opened up an office in Pacific House in Carlisle with a new company name of Nortech Radio Communications.
