Paper inks deal with £330m new events arena

Aberdeen’s new multi-million-pound event complex will be named P&J Live, it has been announced.

The £333 million concert, exhibition and conference centre is due to open near the city’s airport this summer. DC Thomson Media, owner of The Press & Journal and Evening Express newspapers, has agreed a deal with venue operator SMG Europe to become the complex’s inaugural naming-rights sponsor.

Those behind the project say P& J Live will be a world-class venue for Scotland, boasting 48,000 sqm of event space and a 12,500- capacity main arena, making it one of the UK’S biggest event spaces.

Alan Mccabe, editor-inchief of The Press & Journal, said: “There’s a lot to be positive about in Aberdeen right now and we see this as big vote of confidence for the region.”
