Charity chain first to gain nod for zero waste scheme

-

The Salvation Army has become the first national chain of charity stores to receive the stamp of approval from R evolve, Scotland’ s reuse quality standard scheme.

More than 50 Salvation Army charity shops across Scotland have been awarded the kitemark by Zero Waste Scotland, the organisation behind Revolve.

The certification, which aims to increase re-use awareness and practices by acknowledging organisations that meet its standards, involves adhering to rigorous quality assurance process and safety requirements.

Shirley Morris, regional manager for Scotland at the Salvation Army, said: “As well as promoting confidence in second hand goods, being part of a nationally recognised brand promotes our certification to a wider audience, which we hope will in turn increase footfall and sales across our stores.”

The addition takes the network of R evolve-certified stores across Scotland to 148.
