The Oakland Athletics extended their winning run to six games by beating the Cleveland Indians 7-2 at Progressive Field. Frankie Montas produced an impressive performance, keeping Cleveland scoreless over six innings while striking out nine and allowing only five hits.

Mark Canha added the support with his seventh home run this season and Nick Hundley had a solo homer and two RBIS. Jake Bauers put Cleveland’s runs on the scoreboard in the eighth with a two-run homer but the damage had already been done and the A’s closed out the threegame series with another win.

In Chicago, Albert Almora Jr recorded his first career grand slam as the Cubs came from behind to beat the Philadelphia Phillies 8-4.

Trailing 3-0 in the third inning, Anthony Rizzo blasted a three-run homer into the stands - projected to be a huge 437ft - hitting the Wrigley Field scoreboard to tie the game and bring the crowd alive. Javier Baez added the Cubs’ third homer of the night with a solo shot in the seventh inning.

Avisail Garcia and Kevin Kiermaier starred for the Tampa Bay Rays as a seven-run seventh inning powered them to an 8-1 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Tied at 1-1 after six innings, Garcia and Kiermaierboth both hit three-run homers after Brandon Lowe struck the go-ahead shot in the monster inning.
