Homeless evicted from cemeteries

An i nvestigation has been launched after it emerged city officials had asked Police Scotland to remove rough sleepers from cemeteries at night. Po l i c e o r d e r e d h o mel e s s people to leave St Cuthbert’s Church yard and Greyfriars Kirkyard, instead of directing them to support services provided by on behalf of the Edinburgh City Council.

The council’s housing and e c o n o my c o nv e n e r K a t e C a mpb e l l s a i d : “Ev i c t i n g people from cemeteries and parks is absolutely not council policy.”
